He then tries to break up the love affair but very much fails. Until one very hot summer day when they drive into the city to go to the Plaza for a cool place to go. Once there, things start to get out of hand, Jay is wanting Daisy to leave Tom. Tom is very swaying in his approaches to keep Daisy, even saying that Gatsby is a Criminal. Gatsby and Daisy choose to leave and on the way home going through the Valley of Ashes Myrtle mistakes Gatsby's car for Toms and decided to run out in front of the car. Upset Daisy figures that Myrtle is Toms mistress and takes hand of the wheel and hits her, killing her instantly. On the way home with Nick, Jordan, and Tom find that Myrtle Wilson was ran over by a car coming from the city.
